About Us

three Musician from Taiwan

The notion behind “Lost Sounds” is to use music as a medium to communicate with other people or objects. The combination of Zheng, Pipa, Liuqin and Zhongruan not only creates an unforgettable unique sound, it also demonstrates the cleverness and ingenuity of the arrangement. The members used their own creativity to compose, produce, and edit the composition. In addition, they invited other composers on commission to create parts of the final piece.

The name, “Lost Sounds,” was inspired by the common feature of dots in the music characteristics of the three types of musical instruments used and, correspondingly, Yayoi Kusama’s polka dot exhibition work. The significance of the title being inspired by Yayoi Kusuma is further derived from her name in Chinese. Yayoi's Chinese name is 彌生 ("mi sheng") and Lost Sounds in Chinese is also 迷聲 ("mi sheng"). “Lost” represents trying find a balance between traditional instruments and various other musical forms, to unearth the infinite possibilities in the creation of sounds.
